The French Newspapers

There are free as well as paid newspapers in France. 20 Minutes and Metro are the free newspapers that are generally found in the underground in the cities of Paris, Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Nantes and Strasbourg. The most read paid newspapers are Le Canard Enchaine, Courrier International, La Croix, Les Echos, The Connexion and France Soir.

Holidays in France

New year’s day, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, Labor day, Victory day, Ascension day, Whit Sunday, Whit Monday, Bastille day, Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, All Saints’ day, Armistice day and Christmas day are the major public holidays in France. Schools get five breaks in a year. Ski holidays in February, Easter holidays in April, Summer holidays in July and August, All Saints’ holiday in November and Christmas holidays in December. All the schools in France come under one of the three zones. The schools under one zone get holidays at the same dates whereas the schools of other zones get at different dates. If your tour is planned in one of these times, get your accommodation booked early because in few of these seasons like Easter holidays, hotels in France remain full.
