The French culture stands unique among the world cultures mainly shaped by historical and political events. The French people believe in a slow paced lifestyle. It is highly important, according to the French culture to greet people at work or during a casual walk on the road. It is considered rude to wish good morning or good bye addressing groups. They prefer personal greetings. It is usual to exchange kiss on cheeks on meeting, even with strangers and men. Strangely enough, the numbers of kisses vary from region to region, ranging anywhere between one and five.

Climate in France

France has diverse climatic conditions spread through its various regions. Summers are generally mild with exceptions of a few hot regions like the south west coast and a few cities like Marseille and Nice. Winters are cool with the Rhone-Alphs-Pyrenees regions getting snow-clad every year. Places like Lyon experience harsh winters.

Information on France -Food and Beverages

Crepes, Croissants, Madeleines of France are popular world-wide. Their menu mainly consists of appetizers, starters, the main course along with a drink and invariably a dessert to end. Gougeres, Rillettes and Tapenades are popular appetizers while Baguette, frog legs, Ratatouille and truffes are a few among the common starters. Sausages, beef cooked in wine, fish, mussels, French fries, cheese, potatoes and mussels are a few of main dishes. Desserts are usually rich such as custards, chocolate mousse and apple and lemon tarts. Expresso, wine, Cognac and Pastis are the most liked drinks in France.

Travel in France

Travel within France is largely by trains. All major cities are well-connected by high-speed trains. TGV is a network of fast moving trains which travels at a speed of 354 mph. Trains are more reliable and cheaper compared to flights. Air France is the official international air service while there are several other domestic flights.

Hotels

Due to its importance as a tourism hub, hotels in France are highly developed throughout the country. There are several types of accommodation to target typical customers. During the peak seasons, hotels that are economical get booked quickly. Budget hotels, luxury hotels, boutique hotels are a few classes in France.
